With the power of the internet and technology, it’s now possible to learn anything, anytime, anywhere. For free!

I had a learning gap from middle school due to some turbulent years in my childhood. This became a serious problem when I wanted to pursue an academic career, but I managed to close my skill gap using Khan Academy 👨‍🎓

What’s great about the platform is that you can choose your own level, even starting below where you’re supposed to be. This highlights a big flaw in the traditional education system — being forced into a certain level regardless of readiness.

After graduating high school, I had “Teach for mastery - not test scores” engraved in my student cap. It’s a quote by Sal Khan.

Reading a book is a big time commitment, and only a few books is really worth it. These won’t let you down!

Hackers and Painters is a book by Paul Graham, but if you aren’t already aware, he has a goldmine of a website where he has written a ton of famous essays about technology and business.

When reading books, I recommend devoting your full attention to that activity. Multitasking is a myth and has been proven ineffective. For me, being a zoomer with the attention span equivalent to that of a goldfish, I need to listen to an audio version of the book while reading to not loose focus. I use Audible to find the audio versions of the books and then read them on my Kindle. I’m not sponsored by Amazon btw 😂

As a last tip, I reccomend reflecting over the books using interleaved retrieval, or even creating questions for yourself in Anki. That technique is explained in detail in Make It Stick.
